Emily is a Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
in private practice with Puget Sound Breastfeeding. She is also trained in
Infant Craniosacral Therapy, and has been a certified childbirth educator
since 2003. Emily and her family enjoy providing foster care for kittens
and puppies for PAWS.
Breastfeeding
is a holistic process. Emily’s approach comes from knowledge of how the
overall health of mom and baby can influence successful breastfeeding. Her
goal is to respect the needs of each individual family, and help mom to
trust her body, her instincts and her baby. When breastfeeding difficulties
occur, Emily prefers to rely on natural remedies that help restore balance
in the body and the breastfeeding relationship. Some techniques she
recommends are; skin-to-skin contact, laid-back breastfeeding, nutrition, herbs,
homeopathy, healing foods, vitamins, supplements and bodywork. Emily’s
extensive study of lactation and years helping breastfeeding mothers has led
her to realize this approach is truly supportive of the breastfeeding family
and fosters confidence and connection that extend beyond feeding.
Emily is
passionate about breastfeeding and she combines personal experience with a
commitment to continuing education. She works as an advocate as well as an
educator and counselor and learns something new from every family that she
has the privilege of helping. Emily feels honored to be a part of this
exciting journey for new and expecting parents.
