BRINGING BABY HOME

Did you know that studies show that 2/3 of couples experience a significant drop in relationship satisfaction within three years of the birth of a child?  So much time is spent preparing for the birth and the arrival of our babies that we forget to “baby- proof” our relationship.  The Bringing Baby Home Workshop (BBHW) offers couples an opportunity to prepare their relationship for the joys and stress that parenthood brings.  The BBHW is based on the findings of Dr. John Gottman founder of the non-profit Seattle based Relationship Research Institute.

In this class you will learn how to strengthen the bonds of your friendship, regulate conflict constructively, increase intimacy, and create shared meaning by forming your own new family culture.  There is also special attention given to your baby’s emotional and psychological needs, the important role of co-parenting, and how to keep both parents involved in infant care.

This class is intended for expectant parents and couples who have welcomed a baby in the past three years.  Certified Gottman Educators Tamar Lieb and Amity Kramer will lecture, lead group discussions and couples activities in this two-day workshop.  Babies three months and under are welcome to attend.

To learn more about Brining Baby Home and watch a short video of Dr. John Gottman talking about the benefits BBHW had on families follow the link below.
