PLACENTA  ENCAPSULATION

    I have been helping families encapsulate their placentas for the past few years.  The benefits of ingesting one's placenta are many - improved milk supply, fending off postpartum depression, increased energy, and support during times of separation from baby or major changes.  This method of preparation retains some of the nutrients and hormones present in the placenta at the time of birth - to help the mother with her postpartum transition - and preserve the energetic qualities of the life-sustaining placenta.  I follow a traditional Chinese medicine 'recipe' when encapsulating the placenta for the mother's use (see below for details).

I can also make a homeopathic placenta preparation for use by the baby.  This homeopathic remedy will be the baby's 'constitutional remedy' for its entire lifetime, providing balance when it is needed and a remedy for ailments when one doesn't already exist.  Because the placenta contains stem cells, it will also support the baby's immune system.

Both the encapsulation and homeopathic preparations may be done from the same placenta.  You can also make placenta prints (beautiful artwork) prior to preparing the placenta.

For more information on the many uses of the placenta, its properties, these processes, or my services, please contact me via email.

Placenta Encapsulation Process

It is ideal for your placenta to be encapsulated within 3 days after birth.  If this is not possible, your placenta should be frozen as soon after birth as possible, then it can be thawed and prepared at any time after that.

Typically,  I come to your home 1-3 days after birth. For the Preparation (Part 1), I spend about 2 hours in your home, usually in the morning. I bless your placenta and give thanks for the work it has done and will continue to do, then prepare it for steaming. You are welcome and invited to participate in as much of the process as you like.

From your kitchen, I need the following supplies:
* a cutting board (that you don't care if it gets placenta blood on it)
* a sharp knife
* a large pot

I bring a lemon, ginger and jalapeno, and the gel capsules that the dried and ground placenta will be put into.  The placenta is steamed along with the lemon, ginger, and jalapeno for about 30 minutes. Then I slice it very thin and spread the strips on a foil-lined cookie sheet.  It needs to bake in your oven on the very lowest setting possible for about 8 or more hours. If you have a food dehydrator, that's even better.  After it is dried out, it needs to be ground up.

For the Grinding (Part 2), the dried strips need to be ground by hand into a coarse powder using a mortar and pestle, then finished in an electric grinder.  The fine powder is then put into the gel caps, and the capsules are stored in a jar.

My fee for the Placenta Encapsulation is $150.

I am always willing to discuss discounts or trades, so please don't let cost be a barrier if you would like this service!

Homeopathic Placenta Preparation

This process involves soaking a small piece of the placenta in alcohol (brandy, whisky, or vodka) for a few days to create the Mother Tincture, and then successively shaking and diluting the Mother Tincture to create a 6C tincture that can be given in drops to the baby or child.

I typically use organic vodka for this process, and provide the vodka, measuring equipment, and glass bottle with dropper.  My fee for this services is $75.
